What We Offer
We provide comprehensive assessments for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, ranging from acute sporting injuries to chronic, long-standing pain and dysfunction. Each assessment is designed to identify the root cause of your symptoms, guide an accurate diagnosis and develop a personalised treatment plan tailored to your goals; whether that’s pain relief, injury recovery or return to performance.
We combine evidence-based practice with hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercise prescription and patient education to ensure long-term results, not just short-term relief.

Every appointment begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand the root cause of your pain or injury, not just the symptoms. We take the time to listen to your story and understand the factors which may be affecting your injury and your recovery. We will assess your movement, strength, mobility and function before developing an individualised treatment plan that is tailored to your specific goals. Using a combination of education, exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy and evidence-based treatment techniques, our aim is to reduce pain, restore movement and help you return to the activities that matter most to you.

At Empower Physio Sligo, we understand the challenges associated with overcoming sports injuries in time for competitions. Whether you're a recreational runner, gym enthusiast or elite athlete, we provide specialist assessment and rehabilitation for acute and persistent sports injuries. Our rehabilitation programmes are tailored to the demands of your sport and focus on restoring strength, power, agility and confidence. We use objective testing and sport-specific rehabilitation to ensure you return to training and competition safely while reducing the risk of re-injury.
-
Returning to sport requires more than being pain-free. At Empower Physio Sligo we believe the rehabilitation shouldn’t finish in the gym. Our pitch-based rehabilitation sessions bridges the gap between the clinic and full performance by progressing your rehabilitation in a real sporting environment. Using sport-specific drills, change of direction work, sprint mechanics and position-specific exercises, we prepare you for the physical demands of training and competition, ensuring you're confident and ready to perform at your best.

Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment approach used alongside active rehabilitation to improve movement, reduce pain and restore normal function. Techniques may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage and movement-based therapy where appropriate. Manual therapy is never used in isolation but forms part of a comprehensive rehabilitation programme designed to help you recover more effectively.
-
Sports massage is an effective treatment for reducing muscle tension, improving flexibility and promoting recovery following training or competition. Whether you're preparing for an event, recovering from intense exercise or managing everyday muscle tightness, sports massage can help reduce soreness, increase flexibility and support your overall performance and wellbeing.

Acupuncture and dry needling are evidence-informed treatment options that may help reduce pain, relieve muscle tension and support recovery from a range of musculoskeletal conditions. Fine sterile needles are inserted into specific points to help modulate pain and encourage normal movement. It will be provided if deemed appropriate by your clinician and will be used alongside exercise therapy and rehabilitation as part of a personalised treatment programme. Please note Shane is currently the only physiotherapist within the clinic providing this treatment at present; therefore please book appropriately should you wish to avail of this service.
